Fredo’s friends at the Fresh Produce Journal, Britain’s oldest fresh produce magazine, brought light relief this Friday. They dug out a story about British super market Asda unveiling a snore-reducing pineapple plant which will bring much relief for people with noisy sleeping partners – in short those who snore.

The FPJ says the pineapple plants will be exclusively stocked by ASDA over Christmas. There are indications that NASA studies suggest it will bring relief for noisy sleepers.

But if there is some good recipes that could help reducing the odd bit of snoring, such as the aroma of a pineapple plant, he is quite happy to get engaged. It could only lead to greater harmony in the bedrooms of our nation- perhaps the best Christmas present ever!

The FPJ article states that, according to space agency NASA, the pineapple plants produce oxygen and improve air quality throughout the night, encouraging better and quieter sleep.

According to Asda plant buyer Phil Smith, “Snorts, snuffles and splutters affect a quarter of British people. So for those 16 million snorers, Asda’s Pineapple Plant could be a dream come true – even more so for sleep-deprived partners. For those lucky enough to sleep through the night without the disturbance of snoring, the plant is a chic addition to the home which is easy to care for and adds a little touch of The Tropics to any room.”

The bad news is that if you wake up from the snoring bonanza, or you get driven to the wall by a snorer, the miniature pineapples that adorn the top of the plant are not edible. So, if you have the plant and it does not help to curb the snoring, long suffering partners who cannot sleep will still have to make that cup of tea or reach for the Rooibos to calm the nerves.
